Physician Coaching

Teja Patil, MD, MPH, Certified Physician Development Coach

Most clinicians, at multiple points in our career, find ourselves struggling and feeling that, despite our accomplishments, life and work are not as fulfilling as we had hoped. So how can physicians best navigate our unique personal and professional challenges? And how can we build a life and career with more happiness and purpose?

One-on-one coaching offers physicians a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth that is different from therapy or mentorship. My approach to coaching is rooted in frameworks from psychology, tools from professional coaching, and my own experience as a front line hospitalist and educator in the field of emotional intelligence and resilience.

I work with physicians to help them reconnect with their purpose as well as guide them towards achieving their own individual vision and version of success. First, I invite my clients to deepen their understanding of their own strengths, beliefs and desires through guided self-reflection. Then, the client turns those insights into action by creating and achieving goals aligned with their core values. Instead of feeling stuck or problem solving in isolation, my clients have a dedicated partner who is attuned to their needs. Together, we find ways to increase their sense of  joy, meaning, and efficacy.

Whether you are looking to:

  • Improve work-life balance

  • Optimize your career and impact

  • Manage self-doubt or imposter syndrome

  • Navigate a promotion or a change in clinical practice

I can align with your goals and support your success.

Therapeutic Support

Christophe Gimmler, MD, LMFT

For some clinicians, our challenges may feel like they require more than coaching. Significant issues with mood, anxiety, more sustained relational issues, or more serious burnout for example, might lead you to consider psychotherapeutic support. Foci such as emotion regulation, anxiety and stress management, dealing with anger, strenghtening assertiveness and boundaries, and exploring challenging relational patterns are some common areas of interest in psychotherapy- many of which can span from personal to professional contexts.

Alongside 20 years of hospitalist and outpatient general medicine and teaching experience, I have been working as a community psychotherapist for 10 years, working with adults and couples, and specializing in healthcare provider clientele.
